Looking at betting lines for Purdue vs. Wisconsin.
Hammer and Rails will now be starting to give Boilermakers fans a more in-depth look at the betting lines for Purdue football for the rest of the 2021 college football season!
After their upset win over formerly #2 Iowa, Purdue is not getting a lot of love from the oddsmakers of Draft Kings Sportsbook. The Boilermakers are 3-point underdogs heading into Saturday’s tilt against Wisconsin. The Moneyline is set at Purdue +135 and Wisconsin -155, with the over/under at a measly 40 points.
Purdue is just 3-3 against the spread this season, those three successes coming against Oregon State, UConn, and last week against Iowa. They failed to cover against Illinois, Notre Dame, and Minnesota. So, in Big Ten play this season the Boilermakers have covered the spread once in three games.
On the season, Wisconsin themselves are only 2-4 against the spread this year with those two “wins” coming against Illinois and Eastern Michigan. The Badgers have also been favorites in all of their games this season, which shows the oddsmakers see something in them that many people do not. Finally in Wisconsin’s games this season, they have hit the over just twice.
In recent memory, Purdue fans have been tormented by the Badgers’ potent attack and suffocating defense that hasn’t allowed for a Boilermaker win since 2003. This game could play out a little differently with this year’s Badgers team being one of the worst in recent program history.
It will truly be a battle of the better defenses in the country with Purdue allowing only 14.0 points per game, and Wisconsin giving up 19.3 points per game in their own right. Both teams offensively have not had the seasons they might have expected as Wisconsin is ranked 184th in scoring offense (19.7 points per game) and Purdue slightly above at 146th (23.7 points per game.)
This has all the makings of low scoring, grind it out, good ole fashioned Big Ten matchup in West Lafayette this Saturday afternoon.
Prediction: Purdue covers +3 and gets the win against Wisconsin.
