The incoming freshman impressed at the FIBA U19 earlier this month.
In just about 40 minutes you can head over to Youtube and catch incoming freshman Omer Mayer compete in ANOTHER tournament over the summer. You’ll recall he just wrapped up tournament play in the FIBA U19 tournament where he represented Israel and wowed most of us. Mayer played in four of the six games for Israel (he missed two games as a precaution due to a hand injury but he’s fine now) and averaged an awesome 20 ppg, 4.3 apg, 5 rbg, and 2 steals per game. Israel finished 7th place in the tournament.
Well, he must’ve impressed more people than just us because rumors started to percolate on the internet that Mayer was going to be named to the Israel U20 team as well and sure enough we got confirmation that he’s on the squad and the tournament starts this morning at 8:30 eastern time. The Boiler Ball Twitter account posted about it yesterday.
European U20 Championships start tomorrow.
