Minnesota beat Purdue last season in extremely controversial fashion and has won three in a row over the Boilers. There will always be the PJ Fleck vs. Jeff Brohm comparison because of both coaches coming into the league at the same time and how Purdue gave Fleck a very long look too. It always makes for an interesting game.
It is a critical game for Purdue as well. A win sails them into the bye week at 4-1 and on a very comfortable pace to a bowl game (and maybe more given the state of the B1G West). A loss is not crippling, but it tightens things up to get three more wins in the second half of the season.
Regardless, both teams need an improved offensive performance after last week. Both teams have a stout defense, so that will be tougher. At minimum, it will be a very interesting game.
