The last home game of the season is tonight.

It’s hard to believe that tonight is the final home game for the 2024-2025 men’s basketball season. It seems like just yesterday that the season started and we didn’t really know what to expect from this team. Yet, here we are with just two regular season games and we still don’t know what to expect from this team. I’m kidding. Kind of. It’s been an up and down season with some losses to great teams (Auburn, Wisconsin), victories over great teams (Alabama & assorted Big Ten team depending on the day), along with some head scratching losses (at Penn State and home against OSU spring to mind), plus we can’t forget the four game losing streak Purdue just recently snapped with the victory over UCLA. As the team prepares for their final home game of the season I’m not sure I can tell you exactly what the ceiling of this team is during NCAA Tournament time.

Regardless, tonight Rutgers comes to town for Caleb Furst’s final home game. These two teams met earlier in the year in the Sandwich Arena! Or whatever it is. Purdue emerged victorious in that one 68-50. It was quite a defensive effort because Rutgers has a lot of talent on offense. Can Purdue do that one more time?

Keep in mind this game has big implications for Purdue’s Big Ten Tournament seeding as discussed yesterday right here. Purdue needs a win here to stay in the hunt for that double bye. Then, some help from others later this week would be appreciated.
