Hammer and Rails Reader Survey Results – Will Purdue Get a Double Bye?

Plus, who has been the biggest surprise?

We are in the home stretch of the Big Ten season and Purdue’s once thriving Big Ten title hopes are crashing on the rocks of the schedule. Michigan losing to Michigan State last night helped to keep Purdue’s hopes alive just a little longer but right now they are two losses behind with four games to go. Purdue would need to be flawless and the teams above them would need to have A LOT of problems finishing up this season. So, instead of asking you who you think is going to win the conference, I wanted to ask you if you thought Purdue would earn a double bye in the Big Ten Tournament.

This one was a yes or no question so the results are pretty straightforward. It’s amazing how far the perception of this team has fallen over just three games. I know they are three losses where Purdue did not look good, but just last week many of you viewed Purdue as the favorite to win the conference but now only 56% believe Purdue will finish top 4 in the conference. Now, we’ve got people in the comments saying Purdue will lose every remaining game and won’t even make the tournament and that’s just crazy talk.

Next, I gave you four players and asked who the biggest surprise, good or bad, was so far this season.

I honestly thought that Caleb Furst might be higher up on this one but he finished 4th with just 18% of the vote. Meanwhile, the clear winner was CJ Cox with 35% of the vote. I think most people would say he’s been a pleasant surprise this season. The true freshman has been a valuable member of this team and both his offense and his defense have impressed.
