The CFL draft came calling.
At this time of year I think it’s important to remember that there are professional football leagues that aren’t the NFL and any player would be lucky to find a home in any of them. Well, the CFL Draft occurred, and one Boilermaker is headed to the Great White North to continue his football career.

It probably helps that Daniel Johnson is from Canada. From the Purdue release on his drafting:
Johnson, a native of London, Ontario, could become the 51st player in Purdue Football history to play in the CFL. The last Boilermaker to appear in a CFL game was Frankie Williams (2019), while six Boilermakers have played for the Saskatchewan Roughriders all-time: Tom Barnett (1962), Neil Habig (1958-64), Chuck Kyle (1969-70), Rick Moss (1979), Kory Sheets (2013) and Len Wilson (1960).
Obviously the most famous name there to most Boilermakers is probably Kory Sheets who went up there, set the record for rushing yards in a Grey Cup game, won game MVP, and became a champion. That’s a high bar for Jonson to live up to, but returning to your home country with a chance to play the sport you love has to be incredibly gratifying. Congratulations to Daniel Johnson and good luck!
