The 7’4 freshman played on Team USA last summer where he made a major statement. Can he do it again?
Daniel Jacobsen, Purdue’s often spoken about 7’4 big man, will make a return to Team USA this summer as part of a 33 man roster ahead of the national team’s tryout. Following a successful stint with the national team last summer, Jacobsen parlayed that into a starting role with the Boilers before breaking his leg just one minutes into the second game of the season. Jacobsen is 100% healthy and put on nearly 40 pounds following his injury and was released for full contact and drills following Purdue’s loss in the Sweet 16 to Houston.
In that experience last summer, Jacobsen averaged 9.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 3.2 blocks per game in just 16.2 minutes per game. In those games, Jacobsen set an Americup record with 19 blocked shots in a single tournament, passing current Indiana Pacers forward Myles Turner. This marks the 8th different Boilermaker in the past decade to have been named to a national team following Caleb Swanigan, Trevion Williams, Carsen Edwards, Zach Edey (Canada), Jaden Ivey, Caleb Furst, and Myles Colvin.
He’s back and 100 percent.
