Good luck to the Purdue legacy.
Brian Waddell came to Purdue with a lot to live up to following the legacy of his father Matt. That’s never an easy position to be in. Compound that with the fact that Waddell suffered a knee injury that would force him to miss all of the 2021-2022 season. That crucial missed time probably slowed his development and then the influx of talent that helped Purdue reach the National Championship game led to Waddell struggling to find his place on the court. It’s clear that Waddell has the talent to see some significant minutes at a lower level and that was likely a very large reason that he opted to enter the transfer portal at the end of the 2024-2025 men’s basketball season.
After entering the portal Waddell news had been hard to come by until recently when his new home was announced.

Waddell will be heading to Bellarmine which is located in Louisville, Kentucky. I try to stay out of the personal lives of all of these players, but it appears he will be following his girlfriend to the state of Kentucky. I hope this means that Waddell can find a way to meaningfully contribute and that perhaps he can drag Bellarmine into the NCAA Tournament next season. Good luck Brian Waddell, we wish you nothing but the best.
