Awards are continuing to come in.
After seeing David Bell and Cam Allen win the offensive and defensive player of the week awards for the Big Ten we thought that would be it for awards. Oh no no. Not even close. There have been three additional awards given out to Boilermakers today. Let’s take a look at each one shall we?
First up, head coach Jeff Brohm gets in on the action as he was named the Dodd Trophy coach of the week. This came complete with a fancy Twitter animation.

Here’s a bit from the release about what the Dodd Trophy is and why they felt it was Jeff Brohm’s time to shine.
The Dodd Trophy presented by PNC – along with the Dodd Trophy Coach of the Week Award – celebrates the head coach of a FBS team who enjoys success on the gridiron, while also stressing the importance of scholarship, leadership and integrity.
“This was an excellent win for both Jeff Brohm and the Boilermakers, giving the program its first marquee road victory in nearly two decades,” said Jim Terry, chairman of the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Foundation. “Coach Dodd always prepared his teams for the physical and mental challenge of a tough road game, and Purdue’s dominating performance shows that Coach Brohm had done the same.”
Next up was another award for Purdue Wide Receiver extraordinaire David Bell. After putting up 240 in a dominating performance against #2 Iowa Bell was named the Maxwell Player of the Week.

The numbers and the performance speak for themselves. What a game.
Finally, Aidan O’Connell was named the recipient of Davey O’Brien National Quarterback of the Week award. AOC went an impressive 30-40 for 375 yards, 2 passing touchdowns, and 1 rushing touchdown on the day.
Our Davey O’Brien National Quarterback of the Week is … Aidan O’Connell of @BoilerFootball, who guided Purdue to a 24-7 upset win at No. 2 Iowa with the nation’s best quarterback rating (98.2) in Week 7.

And the release indicates, and I was not aware of this, that AOC’s “total quarterback rating of 98.2 was the best in the nation in week seven.” You love to see it.
More recognition for Purdue is always good. Congrats to all the award winners.
