Jackson State to Independence Community College to Akron to Purdue
Projection: Potential Starter / Certain Depth
Nunnally signed with FCS Jackson State after putting up big numbers as a late-developing senior at South Paulding High School. After spending a year on the bench at Jackson State, he transferred to Independence Community College, where he put up 35 tackles, seven tackles for loss, and two sacks.
His junior college detour paid off. He signed with Akron for the 2023 season after one season at ICC and immediately stepped into the starting lineup. In his first season of FBS football, Nunnally IV was a terror in the MAC, putting up 65 tackles, 15.5 tackles-for-loss, and seven sacks, and two fumbles on the way to being named First Team All-MAC. He followed up his 2023 First Team All-MAC season with a 2024 First Team All-MAC season. He recorded 56 tackles, 11 tackles-for-loss, six sacks, and two forced fumbles.
Nunnally IV has a chance to prove it on college football’s biggest stage. Look for him coming off the edge either as a starter, or more likely, one of the first defenders off the bench. His experience is much needed on a defense line that will lack experience.
