Purdue needs answers in the secondary, and maybe they come from this redshirt freshman.
Both corner spots seem up for grabs for Purdue this year and coach Brohm needs players to step up. Today’s player may be an answer.
Anthony Romphf – Fr. (RS)
Southfield, MI (Southfield Arts & Tech HS)
6’, 190 pounds
Cornerback
2021 Projection: Reserve
The likely starters at corner are Cory Trice and Dederick Mackey, but there is no question that Purdue needs more from that spot. Romphf redshirted last year and was able to get his feet wet. He is a three-star recruit out of the Detroit area and was a two-way star, as he also played quarterback. He had quite a few power 5 offers too from Indiana, Michigan, Iowa State, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan State, Rutgers, Minnesota, Pittsburgh, and more.
What can get Romphf to the field is his athleticism. He was recruited as an athlete and was an effective dual-threat quarterback at Southfield Arts & Tech.
