Hot, blazing’, nasty ass speed.

When today’s player is on the field there should be one goal: get him the ball in space.

Marcellus Moore – Fr. (RS)

Plainfield, IL (Plainfield North HS)

5’8”, 170 pounds

Wide Receiver

2021 Projection: Contributor

At the Tokyo Olympics that just finished former Purdue athlete Samson Colbrooke took part in the 100 meters. He did not advance out of his heat, but he had a time of 10.33 seconds and was able to run with the fastest humans on the planet.

Marcellus Moore is faster.

In high school Moore ran an Illinois state record 10.31 in the 100. He helped the United States 400-meter relay team set an under-20 world record at the Pam Am Under-20 Championships in San Jose, Costa Rica in 2019. On May 16th of this year he ran a 10.35 for Purdue track & field, the 8th fastest time in Purdue track history, and he has a 20.55 200 meters to his credit too. He was 3rd in the 60 meters at the Big Ten indoor meet and third in the 200. In the outdoor meet he was 4th in the 200, 5th in the 100, and helped Purdue win the 4×100 relay.

On the football field Moore played both running back and wide receiver, and given Purdue’s needs at running back giving him a few carries is not a bad idea. He only played in one game last year as a reserve and had one kickoff return for four yards on a short kick.

I have no doubt Moore will play somewhere this year. He can play as a receiver, returner, or running back, but the goal is very clear: get him some space. If he gets the ball and a step on a defender he will leave, and there are very few players in the country that can catch him. He has the speed to make Rondale Moore took like a turtle on quaaludes.
