The cornerback enters the year as CB1.
Good morning and happy 2,000 days since Purdue last lost to Indiana in a contest of men’s basketball-ball. Let’s celebrate with the last player to return an interception for a touchdown for Purdue.
Cory Trice – Jr.
Hopkinsville, KY (Christian County HS)
6’3”, 210 pounds
Cornerback
2021 Projection: Starter
Trice has emerged as one of Purdue’s top defensive players and is a real solid corner as we enter the 2021 season. He played in three games, maintaining his redshirt, in 2018, getting his first tackle against Minnesota. The 2019 redshirt season was his breakout season, as he emerged early as a top defensive back. He played in 11 games and started five. He finished with 35 tackles and three interceptions. His best game was on homecoming against Maryland, where he picked off a pair of passes and returned one for a touchdown. It was the only defensive touchdown of the season.
In last year’s season Trice started all six games and had 31 tackles with two passes defensed. He also earned his second Academic all-Big Ten Award. He enters this year as Purdue’s top cover corner and will be a huge part of the defensive plan overall.
