We now have a when and where for Purdue!

It has taken a little bit, but we finally know some details about Purdue’s first round NCAA Tournament game against North Texas aside from “somewhere in Indiana”. The Tournament has an unusual Friday start this year as opposed to Thursday, but we do have a tipoff time of 7:25 pm on the North Court Friday night at Lucas Oil Stadium:

Remember; Lucas Oil has two courts going for this.It won’t be the same floor, but the sightlines will be familiar for good or ill. It also means Purdue is probably staying at Lucas Oil for any second round game too.

For the record, we also know the six Mackey games too. Drake will play Wichita State and Michigan State will play UCLA on Thursday in Mackey. It is somewhat ironic that UCLA, the team that Purdue opened the arena against back in the late sixties, will play in the first round of NCAA Tournament games there. Michigan State also gets somewhat of a home court advantage being a Big Ten team that plays there regularly. Any win they get there will not count for Delaney Dozen purposes, as I am the commissioner of that.

The other four games played at Mackey will be first rounders. The first two are on Friday:

3pm: Oral Roberts vs. Ohio State

7:10pm: North Carolina vs. Wisconsin

The next two are on Saturday:

3pm: Mount St. Mary’s/Texas Southern vs. Michigan

7:10pm: Maryland vs. UConn

It is very interesting that in six of the games played at Mackey you have five Big Ten teams, all of which already played there once this year. Again, any B1G team win will not count for Delaney Dozen purposes.

Norlander’s thread has the rest of the first round times.
