The Titans reshaped their quarterback room on Thursday when they signed former USC star and veteran quarterback Matt Barkley. That has since resulted in one quarterback getting the boot.
Tennessee has released former Notre Dame quarterback DeShone Kizer, according to Ari Meirov of PFF. Barkley, meanwhile, joins a Titans quarterback group which features Ryan Tannehill and Logan Woodside.
The Cleveland Browns took Kizer in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He never lived up to the hype he garnered after two years starting for the Fighting Irish in 2015 and 2016. He was traded to the Green Bay Packers in 2018 and was waived a little over a year later. He’s since had stops with the Raiders and Titans.
Kizer is once again a free agent after the Titans released him on Thursday. Given the timing, teams will probably have interest in picking up the former Notre Dame star.

DeShone Kizer has played in 18 and started 15 games during his NFL career. He went 0-15 as the Browns’ primary starter during the 2017 campaign. All-in-all, Kizer has a 53.1 career-completion percentage with 3,081 passing yards and 11 touchdowns with 24 interceptions.
Kizer is now available for the taking. Teams should have interest.
The Titans, meanwhile, traded out Kizer for more veteran experience. Matt Barkley, the former USC star, has an opportunity to win Tennessee’s backup gig. He’ll compete with Logan Woodside.
Barkley spent the last three years backing up Josh Allen with the Buffalo Bills.
