He’s coming into the secondary
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have a roster full of players, and we want to talk about them all. One Foot Down’s player profile series will, once again, take a look at every single one of them, and hopefully we all learn a little bit more about these guys, and Notre Dame’s chances for the upcoming 2021 season.
#20 Justin Walters, S
Justin Walters just joined the program this winter. He is an early enrollee that actually did not play a 2020 season for his senior year in high school. He comes from Bolingbrook High in Illinois, and high school football was a spring sport this year in the Land of Lincoln. Therefore, Walters opted out of the spring season to enroll early at Notre Dame and begin his time with the program.
He’s about as fresh as they come for early enrollees. However, he does have a leg up on last year’s early enrollees who only were able to participate in one spring practice. It’s a different person, but Irish fans are still going to see a #20 in the secondary and at safety after Grandpa Crawford was with the Irish for six seasons.
The Restaurant That Fits
Not really a great reason for this. You can get food super early at Denny’s as they are open 24 hours. Justin Walters enrolled really early. Also, there is a Denny’s just down the street from Bolingbrook High School, so there you go.
One of the important parts of watching the spring game is context. Who’s guarding who? When it’s freshman safety Justin Walters man up on senior receiver Lawrence Keys and the freshman does this, that’s impressive. pic.twitter.com/jQ0NwzE2Hs

Well, Justin Walters is farther down the depth chart at the Safety position with guys like Houston Griffith and DJ Brown at that same position. However, maybe Justin can get himself into the mix. We don’t want to overreact to anything in a Blue-Gold Game, but Justin did have an interception in this past Saturday’s game. He jumped a route while covering Lawrence Keys and took advantage of a less than ideal ball thrown by Drew Pyne. It was a good play, but all he got on the stat sheet for the spring game. Maybe he will get some time this coming year.
Justin Walters has had a mini Kyle Hamilton fall camp in spring. I keep seeing it.
