This Friday’s edition of “The Pat McAfee Show” took place on Notre Dame’s campus. With that said, it didn’t take long for the crew to go viral on social media.
As McAfee was walking through the crowd to greet Notre Dame fans in attendance, one of his crew members cracked a joke about Catholic people that is bound to ruffle some feathers.
“Be careful. You never know where Catholic hands go,” one member of the show said.
Most fans of “The Pat McAfee Show” believe it was Boston Connor who made this remark. That hasn’t been confirmed yet.
“Be careful. You never know where Catholic hands go.”
“Whoa, whoa, whoa… You can’t say that here.”

Naturally, the Twitter community had a lot to say about this moment.
“No way this show stays on air for long but it’s not because of ratings,” one person said.
Another person wrote, “The War against Catholics is alive and well. Imagine ESPN saying this about another religion? It’s absurd how mainstream it is to hate Catholics and frankly a scary time to be a Catholic in America.”
McAfee has not yet issued any statement on this comment.
ESPN acquired “The Pat McAfee Show” in an effort to improve its afternoon TV ratings. While the show is unquestionably entertaining, it does flirt with controversy from time to time.
