YouTube TV subscribers may have a surprise on Saturday
Notre Dame Fighting Irish football fans that are planning on watching this Saturday’s game against the Cincinnati Bearcats on NBC may be in for a bit of a surprise. If your cable provider is YouTube TV, there’s a chance that NBC will be unavailable to view come Friday. NBC/Universal and YouTube TV are in negotiations for as new contract, and they’re sending out the warning flags.
(1/3) We’ve been working to renew our deal with NBCUniversal to continue carrying its content on YouTube TV. Since our agreement expires on 9/30 and we haven’t yet been able to reach an equitable agreement, we wanted to give you an early heads up so you understand your choices.

(3/3) NBCU is an important partner for us and, as you can imagine, this is not the outcome that we want. We’re still in active conversations with them and are hopeful we can keep their content available on YouTube TV. More details can be found at https://t.co/kDgIfUvPwM

So, as irony would have it, if you already signed up for Peacock for the Toledo game — you’ll definitely find it handy this weekend if YouTube TV and NBC don’t come to an agreement.
It always seems that these contracts come up during football season — I wonder why?
Back in 2017, I was all set to go cover the Notre Dame game in East Lansing against the Michigan State Spartans. That morning I fell ill, and opted to not make the trip. It wasn’t until just a short while before kickoff that I realized Direct TV was battling it out with my local ABC (Toledo) and the channel wasn’t there. It was annoying enough to pop it on the computer, so I can imagine how much more annoying it would be to download the app and all of that right before kickoff.
Plan accordingly YTTV people.
