NCAA Football: Rose Bowl-Notre Dame vs Alabama

And basketball… well, it’s just not good

Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NCAA. Each week, we send out questions to the most plugged in Notre Dame Fighting Irish fans, and fans across the country. Sign up here to join Reacts.

Notre Dame fans are feeling a little uneasy as 2021 gets underway. Confidence is shaky in both the basketball and football teams.

The Irish basketball team has dropped two of the last three games. With that start, fans are understandably nervous. According to the most recent SB Nation Reacts survey, only 36 percent of Notre Dame fans believe the team is headed in the right direction. That’s down from 44 percent last week.

That drop in confidence comes in the same week news broke that could play a big role in Notre Dame’s postseason life. The NCAA announced the entirety of the NCAA Tournament would be played in and around Indianapolis.

According to college basketball fans around the country, roughly two-thirds of fans think playing all of March Madness in Indianapolis is a good idea.

Notre Dame fans hope the basketball season can find some of the same success of the football team. However, after a Rose Bowl loss, fans are feeling much more uneasy about the program heading into the offseason. 78 percent of Notre Dame fans are confident in the team, down from 90 percent last week and 100 percent before the ACC title game.

Alabama’s win over Notre Dame launched the team into the CFP Championship game where they will play Ohio State. The Buckeyes pulled off what fans voted as the biggest surprise of bowl season with their dominant win over Clemson.

However, more than two-thirds of fans think Alabama will win another championship.
