Ohio State head coach Ryan Day took serious issue with what Notre Dame coaching legend Lou Holtz said about his team in Week 4 and gave Holtz a piece of his mind after the Buckeyes beat the Fighting Irish. Now that a week has passed, he’s reflecting on that moment.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Day was asked if he felt the Holtz comments were a “flashpoint” for him and the team. While Day said he didn’t want to go into the matter much, he said he was happy for the outpouring of support that he received from Buckeye Nation after the win and his now-iconic postgame comments.
“I’m very proud of the fact that we’re 2-0 against Notre Dame in the last two years,” Day said.
Not only is Ryan Day now 2-0 against Notre Dame, he’s only the second coach in Ohio State history to claim multiple wins over the iconic Fighting Irish football team. John Cooper is the only other Buckeyes coach to match that feat.

But as Ryan Day said, the Buckeyes are moving on to Maryland now. They’re doing so as an undefeated, 4-0 team and the No. 4 team in the nation – and back in the top four.
