We’re still several months away from seeing the AP Preseason Top 10, but that won’t stop college football expert Phil Steele from predicting what it’ll look like this fall.
With spring football around the corner, Steele is ready to analyze the current landscape of college football. Unsurprisingly, there were several SEC teams in his prediction for the AP poll.
Steele believes Alabama and Georgia will be ranked as the first and second-best teams in the country, respectively. He also expects Ohio State, Clemson and Texas A&M to crack the top five.
Believe it or not, there are also a few Pac-12 teams in the mix.
Here’s the projected AP Preseason Top 10 from Steele:
- Alabama
- Georgia
- Ohio State
- Clemson
- Texas A&M
- Notre Dame
- Michigan
- Utah
- Oklahoma
- Oregon
It’s important to note that Steele has been very successful when it comes to predicting the AP Top 10.
“My predicted AP Top 10 has been a PERFECT 10 for 10 each of the last FOUR years,” Steele wrote. “When I predict the AP Top 10 in February (about a HALF YEAR ahead of the actual AP poll), I have now hit on 125 out of 130 over the last 13 years! That means hitting all 10 teams in eight of the thirteen years and missing by just one team in the other five years.”
Of course, the Preseason AP Top 10 could look different. However, it’s tough to dismiss Steele’s track record.
Do you think Alabama will be the No. 1 ranked team when the preseason poll comes out?
