Out of MANY
The 2025 Notre Dame football schedule is definitely an interesting one this season — much more so than last year (pause for the right people to appreciate the joke). Let’s take a closer look at it through the only lens that matters… LOVE and HATE.
There are plenty of reasons to love and to hate each game on the Notre Dame football schedule, but let’s just pick out one for each.
AT Miami Hurricanes — August 31
LOVE: It’s the Sunday prime time game for Labor Day weekend (also known as the best time slot for the weekend), and Miami will undoubtedly be overrated.
HATE: The curse of south Florida. Notre Dame hasn’t won AT Miami since 1982, and the Irish will be breaking in a new starter at QB.
Texas A&M Aggies — September 13
LOVE: It’s a massive game and a home opener — you don’t need any more reasons than that.
HATE: Any and all SEC talk because in my opinion… this is really just a SWC school.
Purdue Boilermakers — September 20
LOVE: There’s a trophy up for grabs (The Shillelagh Trophy), but more importantly, there is a drum that will be turned away at the gate.
HATE: It’s friggin Purdue, and there’s nothing sexy going on here.
AT Arkansas Razorbacks — September 27
LOVE: It’s a noon game on the road in SEC country. We couldn’t have asked for a better situation.
HATE: I hate that too many people will focus on the SEC thing and not the fact that Arkansas is a good football team — and will be a real challenge for the Irish.
Boise State Broncos — October 4
LOVE: I love that Notre Dame is finally playing Boise State.
HATE: I hate that the first game between Notre Dame and Boise State isn’t on the Smurf Turf.
NC State Wolfpack — October 11
LOVE: I love that Dave Doehren, a real villain, is coming back to Notre Dame Stadium.
HATE: There’s a good chance that this could be one of those games that give the Irish fits which isn’t the right frame of mond to be in as they head into next week.
USC Trojans — October 18
LOVE: This is the greatest intersectional rivalry in college football, and one of the only ones in all of sports. The game means everything.
HATE: That a fucking coward will be roaming the sidelines for the Trojans, and that this coward actually has me saying incredibly respectful things about Pete Carroll.
AT Boston College Eagles — November 1
LOVE: Catholic carnage on All Saints Day.
HATE: Alumni Stadium is just incredibly low-rent and low-energy.
Navy Midshipmen — November 8
LOVE: It’s a night game inside Notre Dame Stadium in November, and it will likely be the quickest game of the season.
HATE: The annual wookie life debt payment.
AT Pitt Panthers — November 15
LOVE: Narduzzi tears.
HATE: Playing in an NFL Stadium off campus always feels like an old Conference USA game.
Syracuse Orange — November 22
LOVE: I love that Steve Angeli’s decision to transfer to Syracuse instantly made this game worthy of greater attention.
HATE: Flashbacks to the 2008 game because why — why are we doing this?
AT Stanford Cardinal — November 29
LOVE: It’s the last game of the season and the stakes could be incredibly high as it pertains to the college football playoff.
HATE: The grass at the farm is absolute trash, and playing in a half-filled stadium with a quarter of them being Notre Dame fans just screams “who cares” to the country — because who care?
