A bright spot no more
After an incredible month long run to end the regular season, Notre Dame crashed and burned in the ACC Tournament which eventually kept them out of the NCAA Tournament. Through it all, we saw some of the younger Irish players step up and become big-time producers for Notre Dame.
One of the shiniest of shiny spots was the development and play of catcher, Carson Tinney. On Monday, we learned that Carson Tinney has entered the transfer portal with a “do not contact” tag on his name.
Big portal news: Notre Dame catcher Carson Tinney has entered with a do-not-contact tag. He hit .348/.498/.753 with 17 homers, 13 doubles and 53 RBIs across 48 games in 2025. Someone is getting a great player. pic.twitter.com/BqTMlZD02f

It’s a very disappointing bit of news for the Irish. Northern baseball teams are constantly playing with less, and to lose a player like Tinney only highlights that point.
Notre Dame baseball is not in a good place right now, and it’s difficult to see them getting to a good place until they can hold on to the talent on hand.
