It could mean everything.
Thanks to the Covid-19 pandemic, college football in 2020 is not a given. This is old news. What is new news however is the ACC’s tentative plan for the fall and where the Notre Dame Fighting Irish fit in.
ACC’s top scheduling model is 10 league games plus 1 nonconference foe, sources told @Stadium. In this format if Notre Dame plays 10 ACC teams, results would count in ACC standings, sources said. Unknown if ND could earn ACC’s Orange Bowl bid. This needs ACC presidential approval

My response upon seeing this was likely the same as most of you…
I don’t want Notre Dame to join a conference. You don’t want Notre Dame to join a conference. Notre Dame doesn’t want Notre Dame to join a conference. Having said that, the feeling of going into conference as a one time deal and just winning it all? Are you kidding? I would buy a pallet of ACC championship t-shirts. Hell, I can promise you that I would create a goddamn masterpiece for Josh to sell on this very website to commemorate it. After that? We can just crush the damn trophy with a steamroller.
Then, any time some slack jawed, mouth breathing yokel makes reference to Notre Dame needing to join a conference you could just flex, “Yeah we did that in 2020, won the damn thing. Too easy. We’re good.”
The ACC is aiming to have a new schedule in place by next week. A hurdle to be cleared for Notre Dame to play as a member of the ACC this season is revenue sharing. Notre Dame has its own television deal with NBC and its own revenue sharing agreement with the College Football Playoff. Whether the ACC would get a piece of that revenue for this season still must be sorted out, one person said.
2020 has been an absolute rollercoster of a year. Notre Dame winning an ACC conference title might just make the whole thing worth it for me personally. What do you think?
