Sweet Baby Kyle gets a little work

According to Pete Sampson, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish will only get a limited amount of action from junior safety Kyle Hamilton this spring.

According to sources, Notre Dame safety Kyle Hamilton is recovering from a minor ankle procedure and will be limited during the program’s spring practice schedule, likely to begin the final week of March.

Our incredible Kyle did suffer an ankle injury during the 2020 season that sidelined him for a game, but he was still able to finish out the year as Notre Dame’s leading tackler and he had the 3rd most pass breakups on the team.

Ideally, you would want the best defensive player on the team to be out there learning Marcus Freeman’s new defensive scheme — but it may not really matter all that much with Kyle’s skillset. The Irish do need to find more capable defensive backs this spring, and the small silver lining here is that it gives a few more guys the chance to get more reps to develop.

The important thing here is that Kyle is healthy and ready to go at 100% for when the season kicks off down in Tallahassee against the Florida State Seminoles — and there is no reason to think that won’t be the case.
