Lou Holtz expects to celebrate a Notre Dame victory over Ohio State this weekend.
Appearing on a live episode of The Pat McAfee Show filmed at South Bend, the former head coach whipped the crowd into a frenzy by predicting a Fighting Irish win. The 86-year-old issued an ominous warning to the Buckeyes.
“It will be a close football game, but we will win because we believe. … Tell [Ohio State] they better bring their lunch because it’s gonna be a full damn day’s work,” Holtz said.

Holtz called Notre Dame “a better football team” than Ohio State, and that starts in the trenches.
“We have the best offensive line in the country,” he said of Notre Dame. “Sam Hartman won’t even get his jersey dirty all year.”
He also believes the Fighting Irish have the superior defensive line. Holtz identified a pattern when running down Ryan Day’s six losses in 54 games at Ohio State’s head coach.
“Everyone beats them does so because they’re more physical than Ohio State, and I think Notre Dame will take that same approach,” Holtz said.
Before winning 100 games over his 11 seasons at Notre Dame, Holtz was an assistant for an Ohio State team that won a national title in 1968. Yet his loyalties clearly lie with the Fighting Irish ahead of Saturday’s marquee clash.
Notre Dame can make Holtz proud when hosting Ohio State. NBC will televise the battle of top-10 teams at 7:30 p.m. ET.
