St. Cyr is on fire in the crease
It wasn’t enough for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish to shut out the Michigan State Spartans 2-0 on Friday, so they did the same Saturday afternoon in East Lansing. With two power-play goals, the Irish ended the series to snap the frustration of the most recent Wisconsin and Minnesota series.
First Period
Following a game misconduct on Michigan State’s Joshua Jagger, Colin Theisen put Notre Dame on the board, with a power-play goal, his seventh goal of the season. In the first period of play, The Irish outshot the Spartans 18 to 8.

Second Period
The Irish went after it on offense in the first, and the Spartans responded in the second by outshooting the Irish 15-11. Just as the period neared its end, Notre Dame’s Colin Theisen headed out for a game misconduct for contact to the head. By the period’s end, the score remained 1-0 Irish.
Third Period
This time around, it was Landon Slaggert who found the back of the net for the seventh time this season, also on the power-play following an interference penalty on Michigan State’s Christian Krygier and the series finished with a 2-0 Irish win.
