Notre Dame hires ANOTHER Cincinnati staff member in Chad Bowden

Cincinnati adjacent has turned into Notre Dame placement

Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, has long been considered as the Cradle of Coaches with its long history of the legendary coaches. The MAC school has produced all-time greats such as Ara Parseghian, Bill Mallory, and many others. Just 50 miles south of Oxford resides a modernized version of the cradle with the Cincinnati Bearcats football program.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish in particular have looked at the Queen City to help them fill their coaching staff over the years. In 2009, the Irish hired Brian Kelly away from Cincy along with most of its current staff. Last year Notre Dame hired cornerbacks coach Mike Mickens who had the same job with the Bearcats — and now the Irish get a few more in 2021.

The biggest hire since Brian Kelly’s historic run in South Bend was that of Marcus Freeman to take over as the new Notre Dame defensive coordinator. Freeman was perhaps the most wanted assistant on the market, and the Irish were able to close the deal — but they aren’t done yet.

According to multiple reports, Notre Dame will bring Chad Bowden onto the staff to be the Defensive Director of Recruiting after doing the same thing with the Bearcats.

Sources tell @ENQSports that Chad Bowden, the director of recruiting for the Cincinnati Bearcats football program, is following Marcus Freeman to Notre Dame. Bowden will be the defensive director of recruiting for the Irish.

Bowden has received high praise for his recruiting efforts at Cincy with much of the praise being about his ability to think outside of the box to get the job done.

While the NCAA limits the number of coaches on the staff, there is no such limit with analysts and support staff. These are the kind of positions Notre Dame should have been spending money on for years — just like the Alabama Crimson Tide and Ohio State Buckeyes.
