Quick Hitter
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish were on a Bye this past weekend, but that didn’t stop the rest oWe f college football being beautiful hot chaos. As any bye week, I always root for an unpredictable weekend filled with upsets, and it sure delivered. We saw ranked teams drop like flies including Iowa (shoutout Purdue), Kentucky, Texas, Florida, Arkansas, Arizona State and BYU. Other teams just squeaked by like Clemson, Michigan State, and Oregon. Notre Dame may not be great, but college football is a wild card this year and the upsets aren’t even close to being done.

- Cincinnati Bearcats: Up to #2/#3. Cincy dismantled UCF, a team with a lot of talent, but injuries all over the place. Luke Fickell’s squad will look to get style points the rest of the way and have no room for any slip ups if they want a berth in the CFP. The last 2 weeks have been indicative of that, and the biggest remaining test is undefeated SMU, possibly twice. If they take care of business the rest of the way, they will almost certainly be in the playoff and honestly…..I feel like they are a serious contender at this point.
- Purdue Boilermakers: #25 AP: Well look what we have here……Notre Dame’s best win of the season, just like we all predicted. I have to give it to Jeff Brohm and the Boilermakers, they looked dominant on both sides of the ball against a very good (albeit overrated) Iowa team. Notre Dame fans should be rooting for Purdue the rest of the way as is boost the strength of schedule. They will have other shots to knock off other top ranked opponent in Michigan State and Ohio State.
