Notre Dame landed a notable 2024 recruit on Sunday.
Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa, a four-star linebacker from California, revealed his commitment to the Fighting Irish. He chose them over Ohio State and USC.
“Notre Dame is a special place,” he told 247Sports in a live announcement (h/t Eleven Warriors). “It’s a place where I don‘t got to compromise. I can get the best of both worlds with my education and football opportunity.”

Viliamu-Asa called Notre Dame a “spiritual place” and touted his relationship with head coach Marcus Freeman and defensive recruiting director Chad Bowden.
“They plan on using me in a way that would allow me to impact the game in different ways,” he said, via On3. “I loved seeing how they would utilize my versatility to put me in positions to do a lot of different things on defense.”
Viliamu-Asa is the No. 8 linebacker and No. 102 overall prospect on 247Sports’ composite rankings. He bounced back from missing his entire 2021 sophomore season with a torn ACL.
Recruiting analyst Gregg Biggins called Viliamu-Asa “one of the most versatile linebackers in the country.” The 6-foot-3, 230-pound senior from St. John Bosco joins seven other four-star commits in Notre Dame’s 2024 recruiting class.
