Notre Dame is one of college football’s most tradition-rich programs, and that history includes their trademark uniforms.
In recent years, we’ve seen the Fighting Irish embrace several new looks as part of their “Shamrock Series” alternate uniforms, and earlier this season, the team wore an all-green ensemble in primetime against Ohio State.
Still, when Notre Dame revealed Saturday morning that it will be ditching its customary gold pants to wear all-white against Clemson this afternoon, it was rather stunning.

Now, this isn’t the first time Notre Dame has worn all-white in a game. They also did so back in 2013 against Arizona State in a “Shamrock Series” game in Arlington, Tex.
Still, this is a run-of-the-mill regular season game, so the Irish going with the “icy” appearance is definitely noteworthy.

Our thoughts? The white pants are a little jarring, but they do look better than some of Notre Dame’s recent alternate choices.
Clemson and Notre Dame will kick off at noon ET today from Death Valley. ABC will televise the action.
