The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are sending another offensive lineman to the league after the San Francisco 49ers selected offensive lineman Aaron Banks with the 48th overall pick in the 2nd round of the NFL Draft.

Banks was a two year starter for the Irish at left guard — right next to Liam Eichenberg. He’s an enormous player inside, but has good foot speed and moves really well for his size. The good news about Banks is that he might have the highest ceiling between him and Eichenberg. Had Aaron returned to Notre Dame in 2021, the plan was to move him out to left tackle, which shows the trust the Irish staff had in him — and how talented he really is along the line.
Round 2 Pick 16: Aaron Banks
I may be wrong but I thought Banks was a better fit for a Power Run game
This is an interesting selection since Banks’ biggest concerns are athleticism/agility pic.twitter.com/rGu4igvDSw

Banks joins former Irish great Mike McGlinchey in San Francisco and will likely battle for a spot right away. The 49ers want to win right now, so if Banks does end up becoming a starter early, it’s because he can help them get back to the NFC Championship game.
