An Omaha native who began his college football career at Notre Dame is coming home to play for the Cornhuskers.
Barret Liebentritt, who spent two seasons with the Fighting Irish as a walk-on, announced his decision to transfer to Nebraska on Twitter Saturday afternoon.
The 6-foot, 235-pound Liebentritt played tight end at Notre Dame, and appeared in all 13 games for the Fighting Irish in 2022, playing exclusively on kickoff returns.
With Nebraska, the former Skutt Catholic star will move to fullback, a position that is being reemphasized under new head coach Matt Rhule.
“Notre Dame will always hold a special place in my heart. With that being said, I’m excited to announce that I’ll be coming home to play fullback for Nebraska,” Liebentritt wrote. “Thank you to Coach Rhule and his staff for this opportunity. I can’t wait to get to work.”
