Manti Te’o is one of many former Notre Dame players with his eye on his old program heading into Saturday night’s showdown against Ohio State.
On “The Pat McAfee Show” Thursday, Te’o was asked for this thoughts on the matchup between the ninth-ranked Fighting Irish and No. 6 Buckeyes.
“You’ve got an Ohio State team that’s coming in. So this is going to be a big test — not only for the team, but just like the atmosphere,” Te’o said. “Ohio State has got that brand, they’ve got that name. And sometimes when you’re in that transition period, you don’t know whether guys are going to look at that Ohio State brand, that name, and be intimidated by it. Or if they’re going to come out and swing. I have no doubt they’re going to come out there swinging.”
Notre Dame picked up a major victory when it beat an undefeated, top 10 Clemson in its first season under Marcus Freeman last fall.
However, beating Ohio State this weekend would mean even more. When the Fighting Irish topped Clemson, they already had three losses and were out of College Football Playoff contention.
Beat the Buckeyes and you can legitimately dream about not only reaching the playoff again, but making some noise once you get there.
