Former Notre Dame head football coach Lou Holtz spoke at the Republican National Convention on Wednesday night.
The iconic college football coach has not been afraid to speak his mind as of late, saying things about the pandemic like: “Let’s move on with our life! When they stormed Normandy, they knew there were going to be casualties — there were going to be risks.”
Holtz spoke again at the Republican National Convention on Thursday night. He showed his support for President Trump and went after Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.
Specifically, the former Notre Dame head coach questioned Biden’s Catholic faith. Holtz said that Biden is “Catholic in name only.”
Holtz has since been criticized heavily for his comment about Biden’s faith. The Washington Post reported on Biden’s faith earlier in his campaign.
“Biden almost always has rosary beads in his pocket … He has written and spoken at length of how faith helped him grieve the loss of his first wife and daughter many years ago, and his son Beau,” The Post reported.
Disgusting lie by Lou Holtz that Biden is a ‘Catholic in name only.’

A Jesuit priest responded to Holtz’s comments on MSNBC.
“(He) cannot look into the soul of Joe Biden,” James Martin said. “I think it’s a really terrible thing to say about someone. He has no clue what’s going on inside of Joe Biden’s heart.”
The Republican National Convention is scheduled to continue tonight.
UFC president Dana White is among those scheduled to speak.
