Notre Dame kick off their 2022 regular season and the Marcus Freeman era on September 3 when they head to Columbus to take on Ohio State. But one Fighting Irish fan had a bold message for the Buckeyes.
The Notre Dame Recruiting Twitter account (@NDrecruiting01) posted this afternoon that the Fighting Irish should be able to “bully” the Ohio State offensive line in September. They also said that the defense looks “just as bad as it was last year, which was one of the worst defenses in Power 5.”
Ohio State is currently favored in that game by 13 points. The account called that spread “silly.”
But Ohio State fans were not amused and quickly swarmed the comments to brag that they’re going to trounce Notre Dame. Even some Notre Dame fans weren’t convinced by the optimism reflected in the tweet:
Finally got the time to watch the Ohio State spring game.
The Buckeye defense looked just as bad as it was last year, which was one of the worst defenses in Power 5.
The offense is going to be great, but ND should be able to bully the OSU OL.
That OSU -13 spread vs ND is silly

“To be honest, I will be happy if this game is even competitive… OSU is a top 3 team and we have a lot of holes to fill,” one Notre Dame fan replied.
“I agree. -13 is silly. Taking OSU all day with that,” wrote a Buckeyes fan.
“Notre Dame gets humiliated every SINGLE time they go up against one of the big boys,” another Buckeyes fan replied.
September’s meeting between Ohio State and Notre Dame will be just the seventh between the two midwest powerhouses. Ohio State has won each of the last four meetings, with Notre Dame’ last win against the Buckeyes coming in 1936.
Suffice it to say, the Fighting Irish will have to overcome a lot to win this game. But confidence that they can is one of the first things.
