Lou Holtz, the former Notre Dame head football coach, has long voiced his support for President Donald Trump. He continued such support at a pro-Trump rally in South Carolina on Saturday afternoon.
Holtz, who once called Trump the “greatest president in my lifetime,” was one of several Republican speakers at Trump’s “Save America” event on Saturday. Holtz has long been one of Trump’s most notable allies. He previously received Presidential Medal of Freedom while Trump was in office.
Holtz was joined by South Carolina Republican Party Chariman Drew McKissick, President of the National Border Patrol Council Brandon Judd and conservative activist Graham Allen.
During Holtz’s address, he had a glowing endorsement of Trump and his track record.
“Ex football coach Lou Holtz said he supports Trump for 3 reasons: 1. ‘I trust him completely – when he says something take it to the bank;’ 2. ‘Every decision he made wasn’t to help him personally, it was to help the country;’ 3. “He cares about the people of this country.’”

Lou Holtz became a college football legend for his efforts at Notre Dame, but he’s also well-known in South Carolina. The former head coach also coached the Gamecocks from 1999 to 2004, where he compiled a 33-37 record.
In his post-coaching career, Holtz has become a vocal conservative who’s remained supportive of President Trump. It’s clear he’ll continue to be an ally of his for years to come.
