It’s been a long while since there was any real uncertainty at quarterback for the Alabama Crimson Tide at this point in the offseason. But a new analysis of the team’s QB room suggests that there will be at least some for a good while.
On Thursday, Notre Dame transfer quarterback Tyler Buchner committed to Alabama, making him the fifth quarterback on Nick Saban’s roster heading into the summer. On3 Sports’ Hayes Fawcett then posed the question whether Alabama has the most impressive QB room in the country.
Alabama’s QB room now consists of Buchner, Jalen Milroe, Ty Simpson, Eli Holstein and Dylan Lonergan. All five of them were ranked among the top 15 QBs in their respective recruiting classes.
But the football world isn’t convinced that Alabama’s QB room is that good. Many are asserting that the group’s lack of experience puts them well-behind many of their peers:
Y’all love these ⭐️ too damn much! Who got film?

They don’t even have the 10th best QB room, let alone 1st lol

If they had the best room in the nation they wouldn’t have gone out and got him in my opinion 🤷🏾♂️ https://t.co/NqZoN6pxrP

There’s definitely something to be said for the lack of experience that Alabama seems to have at quarterback. But it’s not like Nick Saban has never found success with inexperienced signal callers before.
For Alabama, if Saban can simply get the talent in the building, the job is basically half-done. He’s turned so many quarterbacks into college football superstars that it’s easy to lose track of them.
Somewhere on this Alabama roster is a quarterback who can lead the team into the post-Bryce Young era. It just may take a couple of extra weeks to find him.
