Joel Klatt Releases His New College Football Top 10 Poll

September 5, 2021 by The Spun Leave a Comment

FOX Sports 1 college football analyst Joel Klatt.

Week 1 of the 2021 college football season is almost in the books, but FOX Sports analyst Joel Klatt already knows who he’s voting for in his top 10 poll.

Taking to Twitter this morning, Klatt released his first in-season top 10 poll. Naturally, the Alabama Crimson Tide got top billing after trouncing the University of Miami.

Coming in second was another team that wowed in Week 1: The Georgia Bulldogs. He had Georgia in at No. 2, followed by Oklahoma, who were sharp offensively in a 40-35 win over Tulane.

Ohio State received Klatt’s fourth-place vote after beating Minnesota on Thursday. Just missing what would be the College Football Playoff cut were Clemson (fifth) and Texas A&M (sixth).

Here is Joel Klatt’s full top 10 poll:

  1. Alabama
  2. Georgia
  3. Oklahoma
  4. Ohio State
  5. Clemson
  6. Texas A&M
  7. Cincinnati
  8. Notre Dame
  9. Florida
  10. Iowa

As of 9/4 my top 10 in CFB
1) @AlabamaFTBL
2) @GeorgiaFootball
3) @OU_Football
4) @OhioStateFB
5) @ClemsonFB
6) @AggieFootball
7) @GoBearcatsFB
8) @NDFootball (game Sunday)
9) @GatorsFB
10) @HawkeyeFootball

Cincinnati earned their top 10 contender status with a strong win over Miami (OH). Florida and Iowa similarly earned their rankings with double-digit wins over Florida Atlantic and Indiana respectively.

But Klatt made his list before seeing Notre Dame play their first game, which happens today against Florida State.

The list has an understandably strong SEC flavor to it. Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Texas A&M should all be in contention for the SEC title all the way to the end of the season.

Alabama crossed paths with both Florida and Texas A&M this year. Wins over both of those teams will likely ensure Alabama’s spot in the College Football Playoff, regardless of whether the Tide win the SEC Championship Game.

But at this point, we’re all just waiting for someone to truly challenge Alabama’s might.
