Check the index (or not because math isn’t real)
The college football offseason is going splendidly well, but it’s also been fairly quiet (for the most part). As it concerns Notre Dame, I feel like we’re all mostly just waiting on the June arrivals and the start of workouts. Still… there’s always a little something and that’s why we call the triple option.
POWER INDEX
ESPN’s latest CFB Power Index has the Irish ranked #7 in the country — and it definitely feels a little low, but not entirely disrespectful. Of note, is that four of Notre Dame’s 2025 opponents are ranked in the top 25:
- Texas A&M Aggies #8
- Miami Hurricanes #9
- USC Trojans #19
- Arkansas Razorbacks #22

OH NO ONO
There isn’t much this has to do with Notre Dame, but… it’s still funny. Former Michigan president Santa Ono (who presided over a lot of shady shit) left Ann Arbor to take the president job at Florida — except that’s not going to happen now.
BREAKING: The Florida higher education system Board of Governors rejects the hiring of Santa Ono as University of Florida president. Vote was 6 yes, 10 no.

THE GREATS
Former Notre Dame LB Manti Te’o and former Notre Dame CB Todd Lyght are on the ballot for the Hall of Fame class of 2026.
“The National Football Foundation (NFF) announced today the names on the 2026 Ballot under consideration for induction into the NFF College Football Hall of Fame, including 79 players and nine coaches from the Football Bowl Subdivision and 100 players and 35 coaches from the divisional ranks.”
