Dan Patrick had a few words for coach Ryan Day in the aftermath of Ohio State’s walk-off win over Notre Dame on Saturday night.
Speaking on his self-titled show, the syndicated radio host reacted to Day’s amped up postgame interview that seemed to be fueled by Lou Holtz’s pick going into the game.
“Toughness, that’s it. Physicality across the board. Finish it off. Having guts… I’d like to know where Lou Holtz is right now,” Day told NBC. “What he said about our team, I cannot believe. This is a tough team right here! We’re proud to be from Ohio and it’s always been Ohio against the world! … I love those kids and we’ve got a tough team!”
“Of course Lou Holtz is going to take Notre Dame! Were you upset that Vince Vaughn took Notre Dame in the pregame too?… But yes we’re questioning if your team can win these big game.”

Patrick reacted to those remarks on Monday:
First of all, people questioned you against Michigan. That’s what they questioned. I don’t know if they said you’re not ‘tough’ enough to beat Notre Dame. We have questioned Notre Dame’s toughness for a long, long time. Their overall talent for a long, long time… And Lou Holtz is [86] and he’s the one firing your team up? And of course Lou Holtz is going to – I don’t know, were you upset that Vince Vaughn took Notre Dame in the pregame too? … But yes, we’re questioning if your team can win these big games. This is 60 seconds after you just won a game … and you’re calling out Lou Holtz.
Ohio State climbed to climbed to No. 4 in the AP Poll with the win. They’ll have their eyes on Maryland this weekend.
