College Football World Reacts To James Laurinaitis Photo

April 29, 2022 by The Spun

James Laurinaitis of the Ohio State Buckeyes.

While he may be an Ohio State legend, James Laurinaitis is now part of former Buckeye teammate Marcus Freeman’s staff at Notre Dame.

When it was announced a few months ago that Laurinaitis was heading to South Bend to work under Freeman, Ohio State fans couldn’t quite wrap their heads around the news. Most probably still can’t.

On Wednesday, a photo of Laurinaitis at practice in Notre Dame gear began going viral on Twitter. The 35-year-old former Butkus Award winner looks like he could still handle some reps at linebacker.

Fighting Irish fans are loving Laurinaitis’ new look, while OSU supporters are still having trouble coming to terms with him working at ND.

Love to serve these young men!!! Go Irish!! @NDFootball https://t.co/HBkpt4bJhr

Wrestling aficionados can spot the “What a Rush” references in a couple of the tweets above. Laurinaitis’ late father Joe was one half of The Road Warriors, a legendary WWF duo.

James Laurinaitis is currently putting his football knowledge to use as a graduate assistant at Notre Dame. His first regular season game with the Fighting Irish will be at his alma mater in Columbus on September 3.

What a reunion that will be.
