College Football World Reacts To FSU Quarterback News

September 6, 2021 by The Spun Leave a Comment

A general view of Florida State's football stadium.

Florida State just kicked off its 2021 season against Notre Dame, and it will be Jordan Travis, not McKenzie Milton, starting at quarterback.

Travis, who began his career at Louisville, beat out Milton, a UCF transfer, for the starting nod. In 2020, Travis passed for 1,056 yards, six touchdowns and six interceptions for FSU.

Milton is expected to play tonight, which in and of itself is a bit of a miracle. In his final game of the 2018 season, Milton suffered a gruesome broken leg in a game against USF. It has been a long road back for the onetime star.

“I always believed that, you know, I would get back on the football field and here I am with that opportunity,” Milton said earlier this summer, via 247Sports. “Couldn’t imagine it being at any other place. This is unbelievable, this is something you dream about as a kid.”

The video board announces Jordan Travis will start at QB for #FSU tonight. I do expect we will see McKenzie Milton at some point tonight too though.

Wow Jordan Travis starting for FSU over McKenzie Milton

Looks like Jordan Travis is going to get the start over McKenzie Milton for Florida State tonight. Still hoping we get to see the former UCF QB at somepoint tonight.

Travis and Florida State are about to get the ball for the first time this season. They’ll be working from behind, after Notre Dame struck for seven points on its first drive when Jack Coan hit tight end Michael Mayer for a 41-yard touchdown pass on fourth down.
