College Football Fans React To GameDay's Week 1 Celebrity Guest Picker

November 15, 2024 by The Spun

Predicting Every College GameDay Location For The 2024 Season (1:01)

Technically College GameDay made its season debut for Week 0 last week between Florida State and Georgia Tech in Ireland, but the REAL season kicks off this week as they head to College Station for a tilt between No. 20 Texas A&M and No. 7 Notre Dame. Naturally, a big name is set to be the guest picker.

On Thursday, College GameDay announced that Texas A&M football legend Johnny Manziel, aka Johnny Football, will be their guest picker at College Station.

“We are fired up to have @JManziel2 as our Week 1 guest picker in College Station,” the show announced, sharing a video of Manziel expressing his excitement.

Fans and even other analysts were thrilled that one of the most exciting college football players of the last 15 years is going to be back on the air for one of his school’s biggest games:

“Johnny Manziel in 2012-2015 is the coolest anyone can ever be and I’ll die on this hill,” one user declared.

“LFGGGGGG!!!!” wrote another.

“LETS TURN UPPPP,” a third wrote.

Manziel led Texas A&M to an 11-2 record and Cotton Bowl win as a redshirt freshman in 2012, winning the Heisman Trophy in the process.

While his pro career and ensuing personal issues made the years after college rough, he seems to have turned things around and is even going to be covering football for The Action Network in 2024.
