4-Star Texas RB Javian Osborne Commits to Notre Dame

May 3, 2025 by One Foot Down

Another one

The Irish have been really hot on the recruiting trail over the past month, and it just got a whole lot hotter on Saturday as 4-Star RB Javian Osborne gave his public commitment to Notre Dame and its 2026 football recruiting class.

The 5’9” 195 pounder from Forney High School in Forney, Texas, chose the Irish over the Michigan Wolverines — but he also held a lot of other big time offers from all over the country including the Alabama Crimson Tide, Oklahoma Sooners, Texas Longhorns, Texas A&M Aggies, Ohio State Buckeyes, and so many more.

From 247:

High-volume workhorse with a tightly wound, compact build that should be able to continue that heavier-touch role in the future. Flashes an effective jump cut. May be most effective as a one-cut slasher who gets north-south rather than stringing moves at the second level. Displays good initial acceleration to hit the hole with juice. Fairly quick feet set up cuts and mask impending redirection. Top-end gear does not match early speed but is not necessarily a weakness, as reflected by an encouraging 11.05 100 in Spring 2024. Violent run style helps shake glancing contact, but can compromise balance at times. Yards per carry rate dropped from sophomore to junior year (7.69 vs. 6.52). Limited pass-catching reps (28 receptions in three seasons), but comfortable in that department when targeted. Busy gait/movement patterns create some wasted motion at times. Projects to the P4 level as a potential multi-year impact player who could develop into an NFL Draft candidate.

Osborne is the 14th commitment for Notre Dame and its 2026 recruiting class. Javian is the first Texas player to commit in this class — a class that is now represented by 8 different states. Notre Dame continues to push the narrative nationally as they remain the #2 recruiting class in the country according to the current 247 Team Composite Rankings.

The Irish continue to recruit the hell out of the running back position. While it’s unlikely that Jadarian Price sticks around after the 2025 season, Notre Dame could have three Texans in the backfield in 2026. It’s really a job well done.

Notre Dame has continually shown that it is a program that wants to run the ball as well as anyone in the country, and that dedication has helped them land blue-chippers along the offensive line and at running back. Osborne is a HUGE pick-up because of his talent — but also because he is one of the most sought after players in this class.

WELCOME TO ND JAVIAN!
