2021 Notre Dame Football: Cincinnati Bearcats Week

A top ten showdown

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are 4-0 and ranked #7 in the coaches poll (the only poll I’m recognizing this week). Next up are the #8 Cincinnati Bearcats, and what do you know… the Irish are a home underdog.

Being a home underdog is one thing, but being a home underdog to the Bearcats is an entirely different monster. This game already had about 10 different storylines built into it, but now that this is essentially a college football playoff eliminator game for both teams — it’s WOW this is really big.

Notre Dame, while rising in the polls, is getting another week of disrespect from the national media as they just aren’t winning like they would like. Never mind the rest of the country and the craziness all around us — Notre Dame is obviously being judged on a different scale. What the Irish do Saturday will have massive implications on their narrative, how this team operates for the rest of the season, and on the prospects of a playoff run.
