Stewart follows Armaan Franklin into the portal
For the second time in as many days, an Indiana guard has entered the NCAA transfer portal.
On Wednesday, it was Parker Stewart, a graduate transfer from UT-Martin who did not appear in any games at IU after switching schools in December. Stewart made the decision to transfer after his father, Anthony — the former UT-Martin coach — died unexpectedly on Nov. 15, citing his connection with IU assistant coach Kenya Hunter as one of the primary reasons for choosing the Hoosiers.
News of Stewart’s transfer was first reported by Mike Pegram of Peegs.com, and later confirmed by Jeff Goodman of Stadium.
Just got off phone with Parker Stewart. Feel so bad for him. His dad passed away and he transferred from UT Martin to Indiana. Now after Archie Miller fired, he’s back in transfer portal. Will still consider Indiana depending on the coach, but looking for spot to play this year.

Stewart, who began his career at Pitt before transferring to play for his father at UT-Martin, was brought in to provide shooting help on the outside. At Pitt, Stewart started 20 of the 32 games he played as a freshman in 2017-18 and ranked second in the Atlantic Coast Conference with a .425 3-point shooting mark in league play.
After sitting out the 2018-19 season, Stewart was exceptional in the Ohio Valley Conference, standing as the only Division I player to average at least 19.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.5 3-pointers per game at UT-Martin.
Stewart joins fellow guards Armaan Franklin and Al Durham in the transfer portal. As noted on Tuesday, entering the portal allows players such as Stewart the opportunity to talk to different coaches and closely examine his options.
