A familiar foe
Following a coaching change, Maryland Terrapins guard Rodney Rice has entered the portal. Per reports, Indiana is one of the schools involved in his recruitment.
Maryland transfer Rodney Rice has heard from these schools since entering the portal, he tells @LeagueRDY:
Indiana
Washington
Miami
DePaul
Virginia
Stanford

Ole Miss
Villanova

Michigan
Ohio State

Rice appeared in 36 games for the Terps last year with 32 starts, averaging 13.8 points and 2.1 assists per game. He shot 37.4% from deep on over five attempts per game.
Time will tell whether Indiana gets any traction in this recruitment or not, but the upside of a guy like Rice is obvious. He’s a proven scorer in the Big Ten with two years of eligibility left after a year at Virginia Tech and a year at Maryland.
Last year against Mike Woodson’s Indiana, Rice went off for 23 points on 5-7 3-point shooting in a one point victory in Assembly Hall. He also showed out in the Big Ten Tournament, dropping 26 on Illinois in their quarterfinal matchup.
Looking at the guys Darian DeVries has gotten involved with early here, it’s clear that shooting and guard play have been the emphasis for building this roster from scratch.
