The Hoosiers have reportedly reached out to the freshman guard.
Indiana men’s basketball has reached out to Lafayette transfer guard Alex Chaikin, according to League Ready’s Sam Kayser:
Lafayette freshman transfer Alex Chaikin has heard from these schools since going portaling, he told @LeagueRDY:
Tennessee
Indiana
Wake Forest
Virginia Tech
Vanderbilt
California
VCU
Florida Atlantic
South Florida
George Washington
St. Joseph’s

UC San Diego

Chaikin averaged 13.9 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.1 assists while shooting 49.8% from the field and 47.9% from long range in 26.5 minutes per game for the Leopards. He has three seasons of eligibility remaining.
Indiana head coach Darian DeVries is putting his money where his mouth is with his portal targets. He noted during his introductory press conference that 3-point shooting would be prioritized on his roster, and his additions of players like Lamar Wilkerson and Reed Bailey reflect this.
Targeting a player like Chaikin, with shooting numbers like that, also speaks to its importance in DeVries’ program. Chaikin almost certainly wouldn’t start, Indiana seems to be prioritizing experience among potential starters, but he could be a future piece that DeVries and the staff will look to develop this season off the bench.
