Moves are being made
Indiana men’s basketball head coach Darian DeVries has made the first new hire to his coaching staff with the addition of Drew Adams, per Chad Brendel.
Sources tell @BearcatJournal that Cincinnati assistant Drew Adams has accepted a bench/recruiting assistant role with Indiana and new head coach Darian DeVries. #Bearcats head coach Wes Miller will have an open spot to fill on his staff this spring.

Adams had been with the Cincinnati Bearcats since 2022, where he served as an assistant coach and the program’s recruiting coordinator. He’s expected to fill a similar role on DeVries’ staff in Bloomington.
Before Cincinnati, Adams was an assistant at Bradley, where he helped lead the program to consecutive Missouri Valley Conference titles for the first time in its history. He also spent time as an assistant at New Mexico before Bradley.
While it can be difficult to project the impact of an assistant coaching hire, this appears to be a smart move on DeVries’ part. Adams has been apart of winning staffs at all levels of the sport and has strong Midwest recruiting connections due to his time at Cincinnati and Bradley.
With plenty of recruiting to be done, look for Adams to be active early and often here in the transfer portal season with Indiana. Last season, Cincinnati was able to land a trio of big portal prospects in Arrinten Page, Connor Hickman, and Dillon Mitchell.
